Community programs

Community development underpins everything we do at Bridge Darebin.

In order to give back, our organisation understands that we need to know our people, not just as a demographic, but as humans. We take into account accessibility, cultural and social diversity and educational differences and mould our offerings into a holistic approach that provides equal opportunities for whatever space a person wishes to step into.

Laneway Lunches

Bridge Darebin has been hosting Laneway Lunches since 2014. Supported by Quest Preston, this program assists around 60 Darebin residents each Friday to be able to enjoy a nutritious lunch, connect socially and take home a meal too. All are welcome to join us on Fridays between 12pm-1.30pm.

Want to contribute to this important service? Great! You can Shout A Local Lunch for just $5 by making a tax deductible donation via the button below and help us reach our annual target of funding to provide over 3000 meals.

Bridge Queer Gathering

Bridge Queer Gathering

Bridge Queer Gathering is a community-led collective for queer and questioning people of all ages. Hosting regular events in and around Darebin, BQG is a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community to come together, learn new skills, explore the city and get involved in the community. We aim to run a mix of activities and events that cater to diverse interests and needs. You can expect anything from skills-based workshops, to coffee catch ups, to local excursions, to crafternoons.

HOT Makers Markets

HOT hosts the much-loved Makers Market four times a year at the Bridge Darebin Community Hall in Thornbury.

These quarterly markets celebrate the work of crafters, creatives and artists and provide visitors with the opportunity to meet the handmakers in person and get a true understanding of their special talents.

With environmentally innovative cafe Moon Rabbit joining in the fun, it’s the perfect place to meet up with friends, grab a cuppa, eat some cake and shop direct with the stallholders!
